Primer Comparison
Always use primer before you apply eyeshadow. Primers usually have a silicone base that creates a smooth surface and preps the eyes for eyeshadow. Eyeshadow will stick to the primer, providing a long lasting look without creasing.
Eye shadow primers are creamy in consistency and come in different colors. You can wear a primer by itself just to get that "awake" look. Choosing a neutral color will make your eyes look awake and natural.
Stila's new Prime Pot, a waterproof eye shadow primer, glides on smoothly and mimics the eye lid color. Comes in two colors Taffy, a soft beige pink and Caramel, warm tawny beige. Although the creamy texture is good for easy application, you might notice some creasing later in the day.
A primer that does not crease under any condition is Paint Pot by M·A·C. Unlike Stila, M·A·C Paint Pot offers many colors, including black to intensity a bold look. The shade Painterly is neutral and mimics the eye lid color. Though it doesn't go on as creamy as Stila's Prime Pot, it stays on all day and will prevent creasing.
And then there is the much talked about Urban Decay Primer Potion everyone's raving about... Unlike Stila and M·A·C primers above, this one is completely sheer and there is no benefit to wearing it alone. Since it lacks color, it will not provide you with that "awake" look. I also find it too greasy, not creamy like Stila's primer. It will however, keep on your eyeshadow without creasing, if that's all you want out of your primer.
In my opinion, Paint Pot by M·A·C is definitely the winner out of the three.
